She stood at the corner of the cliff, pensively looking upon that massive waterfall.
“Sam, do you think we are consequential? We are significant?”
He was as mesmerized with the giant falls as she was. His eyes were sparkling with barely restrained amazement.
“In moments like this, yes. In a place like this, yes.” He stopped.
She could sense there is more to that statement. “And?” she questioned expectantly.
“Insignificance is relative.” His voice came like a whisper, his words masked by the roar of the mighty Seljalandsfoss. “The entire world seems overwhelming, insignificance creeps in even when you are well prepared for its presence. But I am standing with the most important person in my life, all of that becomes irrelevant. I feel significant. I feel we are significant. In moments like this, I realize it is not just a forever, I want an eternity with you.”
She turned to look at him. His eyes were still fixed on the falls. Mist had enveloped him like a dramatic cloak. She held his hand and squeezed it lightly as they both went back to watching the waterfalls. She knew that she had met the right person.
